Downgrade

I am downsizing. I am giving up my studio space for a while and in the process of emptying my current space, I am consolidating my equipment into two distinct groups: the one of which I use – and subsequently will be keeping; and the one of which I collect – and subsequently will be keeping.

Leica owners tend to break down into one of two sides: the collectors and the users. The collectors are those who care about the limited editions. They are the ones who keep them in their box, untouched by human hands. I think it’s stupid.

However, I have two such cameras – not so much new in the box – but used in amazing condition, so much so that I refuse to use them. One is a 1930’s Leica Ia. It looks like this

except the original paint is immaculate.

The Leica Lady, Emily Therese, and I, The Leica Guy went to “the construction site” to shoot with KT for my cigar noir project. It was a playground. We spent about an hour shooting with Leica M9-P’s. Mine was equipped with .95 Noctilux. Hers with an f/1.

A few from a recent wedding

Emily Therese, The Leica lady, and I went to a wedding on Martha’s Vineyard for my “Step-Sister-In Law” and her new husband. I had never been to Martha’s Vineyard before and it was quite a time getting there…drive… ferry… drive… but needless to say, it was a fun time for the weekend despite the rooms having paper thin walls and the fog horns blowing the entire time.

These shots were taken with a Leica M9-P + .95 Noctilux. Except for two – the pier and the wide screen image – which were taken with a Canon 5dmkii. I was asked by the bride to video the wedding. So Emily got a ton of photos and I just did the video and a few snaps.

Even More Cigar Time

Emily Therese, The Leica Lady, and I went to NYC for the weekend. We met up with model/actress Shayna D’Albora and hung out and shot some photos. Later Emily and I went to a friend’s 60th birthday party at the zoo in central park. The next morning we hung out with Jackie and Antonio and went thrifting. It was nice to be back in NYC.
